EHS Academic Team shows promise

On May 29 Eastside High School had nine students leave for Chicago to represent the state of Georgia in the High School National Championship Academic Bowl. Eric Adams, the teacher at Eastside went with them plus Dave Gregory, another parent.

They returned on Monday, June 1. They were guaranteed 10 games of competition on Saturday. They won six out of 10, which made them eligible to compete on Sunday. Unfortunately, it was single elimination. They had a game at 8:30 and lost, effectively eliminating them from the competition.

Although the competition was over, the trip wasn’t. After they lost on Sunday the team went to the Art Institute of Chicago then to another museum to see a t-rex skeleton. On the drive there they saw wind mills, lots of flat farming land and different types of homes and factories.
