Catherine Lee, former catcher for Eastside High School softball, will have her jersey retired on Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 5 p.m.

Eastside plays Griffin at 5:55 p.m. on Tuesday. Lee’s ceremony will take place before the game, beginning at 5 p.m. Only three players have had their jerseys retired at EHS, and Lee will be the first for softball.

Lee went on to have a great career at the collegiate level in softball. She played for Georgia State University and the University of Missouri.

At GSU she averaged 1.15 runs batted in per game, which placed her fourth in the nation. In 2010 at Mizzou, Lee finished with the seventh-most walks in a single season in Mizzou history.

In 2010, Lee was named second-team all-Big 12.

Lee was ranked in the Georgia top 10 her sophomore and junior years, and in the top five during her senior year. She was awarded all-state honors in 2006, all-county her freshman, junior and senior seasons and MVP in 2007. Lee also played basketball and tennis for the Eagles.

Lee is currently on the staff of the Tiger Scholarship Fund at the University of Missouri where she is working toward her doctorate. As the assistant director for advancement she works with donors who wish to support the university’s athletic endeavors.
