Bulldogs outlast Eagles' swimmers

The Rockdale County Bulldogs edged Eastside 454-240, defeating the Eagles handedly Dec. 5 at Johnson Park.

Eastside finished just behind the Bulldogs in the boys' competition, falling 16 points back at 216-200.

Eastside's Jack Mitchell led the Eagles with a pair of first place finishes, placing first in the 100-meter butterfly (57.28) and 100-meter backstroke (58.00).

The Eagles' relay team of Samuel Stewart, Dylan Weathersby, Jack Mitchell and Matt Mitchell won the 200-medley relay in 1:50.48, while also taking first in the 400-meter freestyle relay in 4:02.57.

Stewart also captured the title in the 500-meter freestyle (5:49.02) and placed second in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:09.48).

Weathersby earned a second place finish in the 200-meter individual medley at 2:27.45.

The Bulldogs earned three championship finishes, two coming from Davis Foster in the 50-meter freestyle (22.00) and 100-meter freestyle (51.19).

Rockdale County captured the 200-meter freestyle relay, as Foster, Matthew Bennett, Damani Young and Will Hardy placed first overall in a time of 1:37.93.

The Rockdale girls team had six individual champions, blowing by their competition to a 237-144 victory over second-place George Walton Academy.

KeMaya Tucker finished first in the 100-meter butterfly (1:09.53) and 100-meter freestyle (1:01.69). Abby Miller finished first overall in the 200-meter breaststroke in a time of 1:28.79.

The Lady Bulldogs' 200-meter medley, 200-meter freestyle and 400-meter freestyle relay teams finished first as well.

The Eagles return to action on Dec. 14 against Clark-Central at the University of Georgia. A meet time has not yet been set.
