The Covington Century Ride, sponsored by the Southern Bicycle League, will be Aug. 3. Registration is available up to and on the day of the event.

"We’ve got 25 sponsors, a huge beach party after the ride, live entertainment and so much going on for the day," said Charlotte Kuehn, a ride director for the Southern Bicycle League.

The ride consists of several route options throughout Newton County, including 13-, 38-, 67 -and 100-mile routes.

The starting and finish lines for all are located at the Newton Conference Center at Georgia Piedmont Technical College in Oxford.

Registration prior to the day of the event is available online at covingtoncentury.com and costs $35 for members of the Southern Bicycle League and $45 for non-members. On the day of the ride, the cost is $50.

Last year, the ride had more than 1,000 participants, and this year that number is expected to increase. Residents of Newton County are invited to come out and see the riders pass by. There will be one mass start for all rides at 7 a.m. accompanied by police escorts.

Routes and other information about the ride are available at www.covingtoncentury.com.
