CLEVELAND, Ga. -- Former Alcovy Lady Tigers standout, Sydney Ziglar has helped Truett McConnell College qualify for the 2018 NAIA Women's Soccer National Championships in her freshman campaign. 


It marks the first NAIA Championship appearance for Truett McConnell. 


The Lady Bears (16-2, 12-0 Appalachian Athletic Conference) were the regular season AAC Champions and will play the current No. 1 ranked team in the 

final NAIA Women's Soccer Coaches Poll, Southeastern University (17-1-2, 9-0-1 Sun Conference), in an Opening Round match in Lakeland, Florida this Saturday.


Southeastern features the leading NAIA scorer in the nation in Uchenna Kanu, a junior from Nigeria who has scored 50 goals and notched 17 assists.


Truett McConnell pitched 15 shutouts and allowed a total of only five goals in 18 games. Ziglar netted five goals and added six assists in 15 games for the Lady Bears.


Thirty teams qualified for the tournament. Opening round winners will advance to Orange Beach Sportsplex in Orange Beach, Alabama for the final rounds to be held 

November 26 through December 1.
