The Covington Fire Department hosted the Fire House 5K to benefit the Fireman's memorial Trust Fund Saturday with around 300 people lacing up their running shoes.

Brent Fields was the overall winner in a time of 17:40 and Katie Smith was the female winner in a time of 23:10.

The event also consisted of a 1-mile fun run, in which Tory Bouchillon, age 10, Dalton Whitley, age 11 and Liane Bouchillon, age 10 were the top three finishers.

In the 40-and-over category Eric Jon was the men's master with a time of 18:18 and Karen Moss was the women's master with a time of 23:46 in the 5K run.

In the 50-and-over category Jeff Bruno was the men's grand master with a time of 23:02 and Jane Moon was the women's grand master with a time of 29:58.

Kevin Cribb was the public safety top finisher in a time of 22:39.

The funds from the race go to benefit the Fireman's Memorial Trust's scholarship, which raised $40,000 in its over 20 years of existence.
