Alcovy/Eastside fight on; Newton season ends

Alcovy and Eastside both swept the competition on Wednesday evening to keep their respective championship hopes alive and move on to the second round while Newton dropped two to Newnan, ending the Lady Rams season.

Alcovy dominated Westlake on Wednesday, as the Lady Tigers won both games by mercy-rule. The first game Alcovy won 9-1 after five innings and the second game ended after four innings with the Lady Tigers winning 19-4.

Eastside traveled down to Cook County and upset the No. 3 seeded Lady Hornets winning 7-2 and 5-4 to continue the Lady Eagles journey for a state championship.

Newton hosted Newnan in a two/three seed matchup and the Lady Rams were blown out twice, losing 13-0 and 12-4, knocking them out of the playoffs.
