Rysan Richardson signed a letter of intent with Point University at Alcovy Tuesday.

The Alcovy’s boys’ soccer captain brings his speed and competitive edge to Point after starring for the Tigers for three years.

The Tigers all-time leading scorer currently has 15 goals and two assists with five games remaining in the 2013 regular season. The Tigers are currently 3-1 in Region 2-AAAAAA with a game at Druid Hills today at 8 p.m., at home against Walnut Grove April 9 and at Rockdale April 12 to complete their region schedule.

“He is a large part of the success that we are having this year,” Alcovy coach Chris Edgar said. “I am extremely proud of him and believe that he will have success in college if he keeps his strong work ethic and character.”

Richardson started out scoring eight goals in each of his first two seasons at Alcovy, while tallying two assists in his junior season last year.

With more of the scoring load being put upon Richardson in his senior season, his goal numbers are way up at a single-season record for Alcovy.

“Rysan has been a tremendous player for our program for the last three years,” Edgar said. “He was elected captain by his teammates this year because of his skill and leadership. He has improved each year while at Alcovy.”

With games left to play, the 2012 All-county player is already Alcovy’s all-time leading scorer with 31 goals.
