Rams, Tigers face off in rematch

f you like good basketball, you won’t want to miss tomorrow’s rematch between county rivals Alcovy and Newton. The Tigers snatched a two-point win in a classic triple overtime thriller at Newton in December and have won two straight against their county foe.

Newton looks to bounce back from yet another gut-wrenching loss. The Rams dropped a region game to Westlake this week thanks to a controversial foul called with .5 seconds on the clock in a tie game. The Rams had won eight straight heading into the Westlake game.

For the Tigers, they’ll look to keep a four-game winning streak going. Both Newton and Alcovy play region games tonight.

Alcovy has never swept the season series against the Rams. Last month’s win was just their third against Newton.

The girls also look to resume their rivalry with the Lady Rams looking for payback. Newton had its six-game winning streak snapped at the hands of Westlake Tuesday and are looking to avenge a 55-40 loss to the Lady Tigers in the second game of the season.

The girls’ game starts at 4 p.m. followed by the boys at 5:30.
