It was a big night for Newton County’s Class 2-AAAAAA football teams with wins coming from Alcovy and Newton high schools Friday evening.

Alcovy snapped a school record 17-game losing streak behind the strength of its defense. The Tigers defeated Lakeside 15-12 at Sharp Stadium on homecoming night.

Newton went on the road to defeat region foe Tucker 37-20 behind four touchdowns by junior Kurt Taylor, Jr.
