Wreck sends two to trauma hospital

UPDATED: March 8, 2:16 p.m.: A car crash on Milstead Avenue on Saturday left two injured, according to the Rockdale County Fire and Rescue Department.

Around 10 p.m., a single vehicle with two people inside lost control and rolled over on Milstead Avenue and Milstead Road, near Rockdale Medical Center.

One person was ejected  about 30 feet from the car. The other victim had to be extricated from the car.

The victims were taken to Rockdale Medical Center's helipad and flown to Grady Hospital.

According to reports the vehicle left the roadway at 101 Milstead Rd, traveled on the shoulder, hit the culvert at 1309 Milstead Rd and vaulted into the air. The vehicle then landed on its front left tire, rotating clockwise. It then rolled, struck a guide wire and telephone pole ejectingthe passenger.

About five units responded to the scene, said RCFD Deputy Chief Mike Lee.
