Woman injured by boyfriend, arrested for falsely reporting drive by shooting in Social Circle

SOCIAL CIRCLE - A Social Circle man and his girlfriend were arrested July 4 for falsely reporting a drive by shooting after the man had reportedly accidentally shot and injured the woman.

According to the Social Circle Police Department, dispatchers received a call around 12:44 a.m. about a person being shot at her home on the 400 block of Dove Lane.

Upon arrival, officers were told the woman, Kierra Weaver, was injured in a drive by shooting, which was witnessed by her boyfriend, Christopher Smith, according to Social Circle Police Chief Terry Sosbee.

But a subsequent investigation by deputies located the weapon, which was linked to 20-year-old Christopher Smith, a convicted felon.

Weaver was taken to a hospital for treatment of a non life-threatening injury.

Christopher Smith, 20, of Social Circle was charged with false report of a crime, aggravated battery, posession of a firearm by a felon, and tampering with evidence. More charges may be pending against Smith.

Kierra Weaver, 23, of Covington was charged with false report of a crime. Additional charges against Weaver may be pending.

The investigation is ongoing.
