After a Conyers woman claimed her husband killed her puppy, Conyers Police now believe that the woman is the one who took the animal's life.

According to police, Sarah Rolley, 24, is being charged with cruelty to animals for hanging a puppy off the second floor balcony of her apartment located at 1043 Pine Log Rd., Conyers.

Sarah Rolley's husband, Andrew Rolley, was initially charged with killing the puppy earlier this month, but authorities have "rescinded the charge on Mr. Rolley and charged Ms. Rolley," said Conyers spokesperson Kim Lucas.

The shift in charges comes after interviews police investigators had with Andrew and Sarah Rolley, says Lucas. Lucas wouldn't elaborate on details of the conversation because the investigation is still pending.

Sarah was arrested April 21 and is currently being held at the Rockdale County Jail with a $24,000 bond. In addition to the cruelty to animal charge, she's also being charged with aggravated stalking and criminal damage to property stemming from the initial altercation with her husband last month.

Around 9:30 p.m. on March 22, police responded to Sarah Rolley's apartment in reference to a domestic violence call. According to the Conyers Police report, Andrew Rolley, 25, attacked his Sarah Rolley in front of five children, ages 6 and under, after Sarah Rolley threw his laptop off their second floor balcony because Andrew refused to show her his Facebook page.

When Andrew realized what his wife did to his laptop, he hit her "in the back of the head with his fist," according the report. At one point, Sarah says that Andrew got on top of her and started to choke her until she "was not able to breathe or talk." She also accused him of hitting her in the face.

Medical examiners at the scene told Sarah Rolley she should get herself X-rayed because she may have broken or fractured bones, according to the report.

During the altercation, she managed to push Andrew off from on top of her and out the front door of the apartment, according to the report. She says it was at this point that Andrew used an outside stairway to access the balcony in the back of the apartment, where the puppy was located.

"As I was walking up the stairs to the balcony, I heard the neighbors that lived on the bottom level say look," the officer wrote in the report. "I looked up and saw a light brown pit-bull puppy hanging by her leash over the balcony. The puppy did not fall through the rails, but had been thrown over the top rail."

The puppy was deceased. The wife told police the puppy belonged to her, and the last she saw the animal it was sleeping on the balcony shortly after she threw her husband's laptop over the railing.

Andrew Rolley was arrested April 9 for the incident. With the cruelty to animals charged removed, he's now being charged with five counts of cruelty to children, one for each child that was present during the alleged attack, aggravated assault, aggravated stalking and obstruction, for hindering Sarah Rolley from making an emergency phone call.

He was released from the Rockdale County Jail on a $121,200 bond.
