A Covington woman was arrested for allegedly assaulting a waitress at a local Mexican restaurant while intoxicated Wednesday.

Officers were called to Cozumel Mexican Restaurant on Sigman Road around 10 p.m. on July 3 in response to a complaint of a woman being combative after drinking at the establishment for several hours.

According to the arrest report, Misty Alliston, 39, of Covington, had blood shot eyes and and was swaying from side to side and had gotten into a physical altercation with a 37-year-old waitress who had been serving her for several hours. Witnesses reported Alliston had confronted a male customer for being "rude" to his wife.

Then she turned her fury on the waitress by allegedly grabbing her hair with one hand and hitting her with the other and then bit her, forced her outside and slammed her head on a brick column.

Several witnesses reportedly attempted to restrain Alliston, who then allegedly attempted to get in a car and leave just before authorities arrived at the scene.

Alliston was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, public drunkenness, battery and simple assault.
