Winter's got me wandering out

The $10 per person fee includes 90 minutes of skating and skate rental.

Perspective is a wonderful thing. Our "typical" January weather, compared with last week's blast of arctic cold, feels downright balmy. Kinda makes you want to bundle up and get outside to enjoy Mother Nature's winter wonders. Fortunately, there are opportunities to do that this weekend. And, as a bonus, they cost little or NO money in this month after the holidays stretched our wallets about as far as they could go.

If you'd rather stay indoors and get your groove on, you can enjoy an Atlanta Symphony performance featuring some of Georgia's best rockers. Yes, rockers, as in Chuck Leavell and Gregg Allman. Or check out the Great Southern Beer Competition. Joining in the tasting will be a tough job, but we know you're up to it on this three-day MLK holiday weekend!

This is the final weekend this winter for ice-skating at Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta. Though it's probably a tad late to land a spot on the U.S. Olympic team that's heading to Sochi, you still can dazzle the other skaters and onlookers with your grace on ice through Monday. The $10 per person fee includes 90 minutes of skating and skate rental. That should be enough to work off a few of those holiday eggnogs. www.centennialpark.com.
