William “Bill” Arthur Whiten, 68, went home to be with the Lord July 15, 2011 at Rockdale Medical Center.  Born in Atlanta, he has been living in the Conyers area for over thirty years.  The majority of his career was spent as a meat cutter including his own market in Conyers, B&G Meats.  Along the way, he was also employed by Winn-Dixie, Hormel, Sears and the Atlanta Journal Constitution, finally retiring from the Rockdale County School System in January 2011.  He was an extremely hard worker with a work ethic second to none.  He faithfully attended Conyers Church of God and was a member since 1981.  He loved the Lord and was not ashamed to share his testimony and faith with others. He was a loving husband and father.  His hard work ethic and faith in the Lord provided an excellent example to his three sons and grandchildren.  He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Mary Ellen;  three sons and daughter-in-laws, Greg and Pam, Danny and Kacie, and Mark and Jessica;  5 grandchildren, Zach, Autumn, Morgan, Rylan, and Reid.  He is also survived by his mother, Elizabeth Whiten; 3 brothers, Jimmy, Tommy, and Jacky; sister, Becky Whiten.  Mr. Whiten was preceded in death by his father, William “Bud” Gus Whiten; brother, Neal; son, Paul.  The family will be receiving visitors on Monday, July 18th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, July 19th from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Conyers Church of God at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Roger K. Bailey and Rev.
