The KCAF team prepares for walkers

Once again, in what's become a regular feature, a rainy morning ushered of The Kimberley Chance Atkins Foundation's Walk with Angels participants on their eight-mile route through Conyers Saturday. Rather than hindering them, the rain has become another badge of honor and camaraderie, and it always clears towards the end with a blink of sunshine.

This year's event raised $33,535, and counting. Crossroads UMC's Cancer-Fighting Crusaders were the top fundraisers this year with $6,427.

"These funds stay in service here in Rockdale and Newton counties and save lives," said KCAF's Jean Yontz. In 2013 alone, over 600 women received complimentary mammograms. Yontz said women may go to either the Rockdale or Newton Department of Health to receive vouchers.
