Celebrations were underway for Rockdale residents of all ages Tuesday. "Cupcakes!" was the universal response to the favorite part of their day question for sugar-fueled 2-year-olds in Mrs. Shannon Burris' Leapin' Lizards class at Conyers First United Methodist Preschool. Aubrey Mauldin humored her mother with the follow-up response, "OK, art!" A few streets over at the Olivia Haydel Senior Center slightly older citizens participated in the 8th Annual Senior Idol Talent Show. Numbers included "The Hole in the Bucket," performed by outgoing Mr. Congeniality Charles Kinsey and his step-daughter Laverne Hayes and "Let There Be Peace on Earth" by the Memory Lane Singers, which includes Liguener Robergeau, a native of Haiti who has lived in Rockdale County for 40 years and the newly crowned Senior King of Rockdale. His queen, Yvonne Brown, part of the Rockdale Puppeteers group, staged the "The Clothes from Oblivion." Brown said she was most looking forward to parade season during her "reign."
