IN BRIEF:  Post 2 Commissioner JaNice Van Ness is hosting a toy giveaway for Rockdale residents Wednesday, Dec. 24, noon to 1:30 p.m. at 52 Ministries, located at 1377 Old McDonough Hwy SE, Conyers (the former Glenn's Bar-b-que, next to Hooters).

Recipients will need to show their current Rockdale residency with a driver's license and car tag. Some toys will also be brought to neighborhoods. No bicycles available. If you know a child in need of a Christmas toy or gift, call 770-356-7301.

Discover Point Church will be serving a Christmas dinner on Thursday, Dec. 25, from 2:30-5:30 p.m. As of Wednesday morning, about 200 people had reserved to attend and the church was in need of additional desserts.
