Rockdale County firefighters responded to a call of a vacant house going up in flames early Wednesday morning.

Shortly after 2 a.m., Rockdale County Fire-Rescue was dispatched to a structure fire at 3730 Ga. Hwy 155.

The 4,500 square foot single story house was vacant and located off a dirt road in an eight acre wooded plot. No injuries were reported, according to RCFR spokesperson Sharon Webb.

The call was made by an individual who saw flames in the area above the tree line. But the call originally went to Henry County who responded with three engines and a battalion to the area of Hwy. 155 towards Hwy 138.

When Henry County firefighters arrived to the area of the fire, they found the house already fully engulfed in flames. They also discovered it was a structure located in Rockdale County.

RCFR was then dispatched with five engines, a rescue squad, ladder, and a battalion responding to the scene. Rockdale and Henry county firefighters worked to get the fire under control. When the fire was contained, Henry County Fire-Rescue went in service and returned to their county.

The fire is still under investigation.
