UPDATED: Troopers released the name of the man killed in the collision between a motorcycle and Honda Accord on Ga. Highway 138 near Flat Shoals Road on Wednesday. Motorcycle rider Geary Alan Sosebee, 60, of Concord, Ga. died at the scene of the crash.
According to Ga. State Patrol spokesperson Gordy Wright, the Harley Davidson motorcycle Sosebee was operating was headed eastbound on Ga. Highway 138 in the left lane when the Honda made a U-turn from the westbound turn lane and into the motorcycle's path. The motorcycle hit the car in the right front panel.
Charges are pending against the driver of the Honda, Ian James Gayle, 28, of Conyers.
Troopers with the Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is assisting Post 46 with the follow-up investigation.
(June 20, 7:43 p.m.): A crash between a black Honda Accord and a motorcycle on Ga. Highway 138 near Flat Shoals sent the male motorcycle rider to the hospital with serious injury and traumatic arrest. According to Trooper Jeremiah Slaton, the Accord was heading west but making a U-turn at the traffic light in front of the Verizon store while the motorcycle was heading east around 5:30 p.m. The motorcycle reportedly struck the car in the right front panel resulting in serious injury to the rider, who was transported to Rockdale Medical Center. The two young adults in the Accord, a male and female, were not injured. The identity of the rider has not been released as family and kin are still being located and notified. The crash is still under investigation.
