UPDATE: Police have released images of the suspect that shot the manager of the Fred's store in Conyers.

(May 16, 5:00 p.m.) Police have called off the search for the armed robbery suspect that shot a man at Fred's on Sigman Road.

The suspect is described as a skinny black male, about 19-20 years old, with short twist dredlocks, about 5-foot 6-inches to 5-foot 9-inches, medium complexion with a dark Nike hoodie with a white stripe, blue jeans and white sneakers.

The suspect reportedly demanded deposit money from the manager at gunpoint around 11:30 a.m. in the parking lot outside the Fred's store. The suspect then came back a second time and shot the manager in the leg before fleeing, according to CPD Lt. Jack  Dunn.

The victim was transported to Atlanta Medical Center.

(May 16, 3:21 p.m.) Police are still searching for the suspect that shot a 63-year-old man at the Fred's store today at the Northside Village Shopping Center.

Agencies involved include the Conyers Police Department, Rockdale County Sheriff's Office, Newton County Sheriff's Office K-9 unit. Georgia Highway Patrol is also allowing use of their helicopter and US Marshals are also assisting.

 Students that normally walk home from Conyers Middle School are being transported home by bus. The busses that enter the Callaway Crossings subdivisions are entering through alternate routes, according to RCPS spokesperson Cindy Ball.

(May 16, 1:00 p.m.) The suspect approached the manager of the Fred's store while the manager was taking a deposit to the bank. The suspect fired at least two rounds, shooting the manager in the leg, according to Conyers Police Lt. Jack Dunn.

The suspect then fled on foot through the nearby laundrymat out the back door.

Police and deputies are searching nearby subdivisions and woods with K-9 units.

The lockdown of Conyers Middle School has been lifted, according to Rockdale County Public Schools spokesperson Cindy Ball.

(May 16, 12:22 p.m.) Police and deputies are reportedly searching for an armed robber that shot a man outside the Fred's Department Store on Northside Village Shopping Center this morning.

Investigators are reportedly looking for a suspect described as a skinny black male, about 19-20 years old, with short twist dredlocks, about 5-foot 6-inches to 5-foot 9-inches, medium complexion with a dark hoodie.

Nearby Conyers Middle School is on lockdown, where doors are locked and no students or adults are allowed in or out of the school.
