UPDATE: Body of missing man found at Lanier

(June 27, 2:51 p.m.) BUFORD - The body of a 33-year-old swimmer missing in Lake Lanier has been found.

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources says that the body of Ciro Jimenez Beltron was discovered Monday morning near Buford Dam where he was believed to have drowned.

Gwinnett Fire and Emergency Services Lt. Eric Eberly said the victim was one of about 60 people who went to the lake for a baptism service. Members of the group eventually realized that the 33-year-old was missing. Witnesses told authorities that he did not know how to swim and was not wearing a flotation device.

Rescuers had searched for his body Saturday and Sunday.

(June 27, 9:51 a.m.) BUFORD - Rescuers plan to discuss the next steps in the search for a man who went missing this weekend in Lake Lanier.

Friends reported the man missing Saturday night near the Buford Dam Park.

Gwinnett Fire and Emergency Services Lt. Eric Eberly said that about 60 people went to the lake for a baptism service. They eventually realized that one man was missing from their group. Witnesses said the man did not know how to swim and was not wearing a flotation device.

Dive crews spent the weekend searching for the man. Emergency officials plan to discuss the search Monday.
