Two community businesses are once again making positive strides. The Solo Cup Company, the 2008 Georgia Certified Work Ready Business of the Year, and Golden State Foods, the 2009 Georgia Certified Work Ready Business of the Year, have been awarded grants from the governor’s office to reimburse expenses to businesses for implementation of the program within their industries.

Manufacturing and warehousing and distribution companies with approximately 50 or more employees were eligible through a competitive process to apply for training funds to assist them in becoming a Certified Work Ready facility.

The two companies will be able to expenses training costs up to $500 per employee up to $50,000 per facility.

This opportunity will allow the companies to focus on developing their existing workforce now and putting into place a better system for future hiring as the economy improves.
