An alert passerby helped deputies and police catch two people selling drugs in the middle of a commercial parking lot on Wednesday.
Kenyonnus Demarcus Smith, 34, of Monroe and Cicley Latonna Holliday, 30, of Conyers were arrested and booked into the Rockdale County jail.
The Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office received a tip Wednesday afternoon that there was drug activity taking place in the parking lot on the corner of Iris Drive and Ga. Highway 138, near a fair that had recently been set up.
Undercover agents with the RCSO Narcotics and Vice Unit began conducting surveillance, including video surveillance, and witnessed what looked like drug activity, said Investigator Michael Camp.
Conyers Police officers and a K9 unit were called and approached Smith and Holliday.
When they searched the passenger car, they found crack cocaine, powder cocaine, and marijuana was hidden underneath the cushion of a child’s car seat.
Cash was recovered from both suspects and a .38 revolver was also recovered in Holliday’s purse. A small amount of powder cocaine was also found in one of Smith’s socks as he was being booked into the jail.
Overall, approximately $4,700 cash, a .38 revolver, 8 grams of powder cocaine, 6 grams of crack cocaine, and less than an ounce of marijuana were recovered.
Smith is charged with Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute, Misdemeanor Marijuana Possession, and Crossing of Guardlines with Drugs.
Holliday is charged with Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute and Possession of Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.
Both are currently being held in the Rockdale County Jail awaiting bond.
