An updated policy for the Rockdale County Recycling Center includes new center hours to make it more convenient to residents to utilize the center. The center will be open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday, Monday and county holidays closed.

The Board of Commissioners approved a contract with Burges Mobile Tire Service at their Aug. 11 meeting. This will allow citizens to dispose of scrap tires at Rockdale County Recycling Center for no charge.

Last year, the county paid approximately $2,600 to dispose of scrap tires from the county’s fleet service division as well as tires brought to the center by citizens.

Other changes to the policy will include restricting disposal of woody debris to one load per week, per household.

For more information on services offered at the Rockdale County Recycling Center, visit the county’s Web site www.rockdalecounty.org or call the center at 770-785-6883.
