COVINGTON - Three arrests have been made in the shooting at the Silos of Ellington neighborhood that left a 26-year-old Newton man dead in September.

Curtis McCammon, 18 of Covington, Areon Clemons, 19 of Conyers, and Hentrez Reed, 21 of Covington, were arrested by the Newton County Sheriff's Office in connection with the death of Nigiel Cliffard James.

James died at Grady Hospital after being found shot at Springlake Terrace on Sept. 1.

According to a Newton County Sheriff's Office release, deputies responded to a suspicious call in the Silos of Ellington at approximately 11 p.m. Upon arrival, deputies saw a vehicle with the parking lights on that had stopped in the roadway. Another deputy reportedly heard a male yelling for help at the house next to where the vehicle was stopped and found James on the ground telling them he had been shot.
