Thankful in the new year

We have a lot of thanking to do. The Rockdale News is 10 months old this January and because of you our reader and advertisers, our gamble that the folks of Conyers, Rockdale County wanted a true community newspaper that carried no wire stories and was filled with just the happenings of the good folks of our county and their neighbors has succeeded.
The enthusiasm that greets us as we travel about the county is especially rewarding for us. In starting the News, we were advised by newspaper industry experts that such an undertaking could not succeed in today's economy. But we knew something that the experts didn't know; the citizens of Rockdale County are a proud resilient group who believe in themselves and their neighbors and are always willing to take care of their own.

We are also thankful that we have a great staff that live and breathe the Rockdale News. You are liable to see one of them at any time at a community function, breaking news event or at the grocery store living their everyday lives. They are members of the Kiwanis and Rotary and the Chamber of Commerce they serve on boards like the Superintendents advisory committee for Rockdale schools.

We know and recognize that we are the new kids in the community; we realize that we have to continue to work hard to earn your trust and confidence. We promise to do that; we also promise to stay a community newspaper with one mission: to report and comment on the welfare and well-being of all of the citizens of Conyers, Rockdale County in a fair and honest way.

Thank you again for allowing us to become part of your life, and happy New Year.
