Food lovers rejoice – the Taste of Conyers festival is back in Olde Town Conyers on Saturday, Sept. 11, from11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The festival, in which restaurants from all over Conyers offer $1 samples of their food to festival goers, went on hiatus last year because of a lack of response, said Main Street Conyers director Monica Coffin.

Organizer Ashley Frey, owner of Southern Komfort boutique, said a lot of hard work went into recruiting restaurants this year, resulting in the highest number of vendor participants the festival has ever seen.

"It’s going to be really great," said Frey. "I’m looking forward to it. It’s going to be a good turnout."

This year, the festival will also feature a pie baking contest and an eating contest that’s sure to be interesting, featuring chocolate pudding pie.

Also new this year is the Conyers Idol, organized by Neal Lange. Karaoke venues have nominated two local singers each to compete for prizes and the glory of being the Conyers Idol.
