Rockdale County Sheriff's Office deputies caught burglars red-handed as they were allegedly attempting to steal metal from a vacant home on Salem Road.
Around 1:15 p.m. Thursday, deputies recieved a call about a burglary in-progress at a home on Salem Road near the Romp 'n Roll.
The caller reported seeing two people walking around the property, which had been vacant for a while.
Responding deputies arrived within four minutes of the call and pulled in behind the suspects' vehicle, which had a trailer hitched to the SUV, preventing it from leaving the property. The suspects were inside the car.
"Once deputies began questioning the two suspects, it was apparent that they were on the property attempting to steal various metal items on the property," according to a statement from the RCSO.
Items that had already been removed from the house included a grill, vent, and a smoker.
The two suspects are Taajwar Ali Bashir, 20, and Saeed Juma Howson, 28, both of Conyers.
Bashir and Howson face charges of Criminal Trespass, Theft by Taking and misdemeanor Marijuana Possession. They were booked into and are still in the Rockdale County jail.
