Strong winds and thunderstorms are expected to sweep through parts of north and northwest Georgia, including Rockdale this morning until at least 5:15 a.m., according to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City.
In a Special Weather Statement issued at 4:27 a.m. Monday, the NWS predicted winds of up to 40 mph and strong thunderstorms from Lithonia to Peachtree City moving east at 45 mph.
"These wind gusts may produce minor damage to tree limbs and blow light unsecured objects around," read the statement.
The rainfall is not expected to be significant enough to produce flooding.
