Stolen truck chase, crash at Rockdale used car lot

A stolen truck chase that started in DeKalb County ended with a crash in Rockdale at a used car lot Sunday morning.

According to DeKalb County Police Department spokesperson Capt. S.R. Fore, around 8:40 a.m. DeKalb County police officers ran the tag of a white Ford F-150 truck and discovered it was listed as stolen.

Officers followed the truck on Interstate-20 heading east. The truck began to take the Sigman Road exit and officers attempted to pull it over, activating their lights. The suspects, a male driver and female passenger, reportedly appeared as if they were going to surrender but then attempted again to escape, nearly running over an officer and hitting the officer's car.

The high-speed chase ended when the truck crashed into parked cars in a used car lot near 1610 Sigman Road and Rockbridge Road, wrecking at least two cars in the lot. The suspects were reportedly had minor injuries and were taken to the hospital.

Alonte Gilstrap, 19, was charged with Theft by Receiving Stolen Motor Vehicle and not having a driver's license.
