State of the County, State of the City addresses ahead

County and city leadership will take a look at past accomplishments and outline future goals in the upcoming State of the City address, Jan. 9, and State of the County address, Jan. 16.

With the theme, "Grounded in Tradition, Growing for Generations," Conyers Mayor Randy Mills and the Conyers City Council will report on the successes and plans in their respective departments and outline the direction of the city government in the next year. The address is on Jan. 9, 7 p.m., at the Cherokee Golf Club, 1595 Centennial Olympic Parkway.

Rockdale County Commission Chairman Richard A. Oden will deliver the State of the County Address on Jan. 16, 6:30 p.m., in the Rockdale County Auditorium, 903 Milstead Ave., with the theme "Continuing to Move Forward by Uniting, Building and Energizing."

Oden will review successes achieved by county departments, staff and leaders as well as share his plans and goals for Rockdale in 2014.

The Charles P. Cole Citizen Involvement Award will be awarded at the event to a civically active, community minded resident.

The event is free and open to the public.
