It's been an ideal senior wrestling season for Heritage's Bryce Cornwell, culminating Thursday.
After reaching a lifelong goal, Cornwell signed a letter of intent with Gardner-Webb in the Heritage Media Center.
Cornwell placed at state in his junior season before winning in the 195-pound weight class this season.
"To win the state championship was something I had been looking forward to since I was a little kid," Cornwell said.
The season helped earn him several scholarship offers, but Gardner-Webb was the only choice for him.
"That's the main one I focused on because they were Division I," Cornwell said. "I really liked the coach, I really liked the program and the direction they were headed."
