Spelling drama on center stage for Salem fall musical

Salem High School's theatre department will be performing The Tony Award-Winning musical Comedy, "25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" for their fall musical. The show will run on November 20-22 at 8 p.m. and November 23 at 3p.m.

The cast includes Lyman Moffatt as William Barfee, Austin Buchanan as Leaf Coneybear, Joshua Winfrey as Chip Tolentino, Naheem Mitchell as Douglas Panch, Jorge Castro as Mitch Mahoney, Lania Humphries as Olive Ostrovsky, Lauren Parker and Amber-Michelle Milton-Dates as Marcy Park, Gracen Brantley as Logainne Schwartzandgrubeniarre, and Kablan Yankey as Jesus.

Drama Department Director Jenni Caruso explained, "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a funny and unique show, about six children dying for the title of Champion of the Putnam County Spelling Bee.

She continued, "This Tony Award winning show actually gives audience members the chance to be a guest speller in the show. We have faculty members, community members, and audience members chosen each performance to compete in the spelling bee during the show. Audiences will love this show and find themselves rooting for the students on their journey."

Tickets are Presale $5 for students and seniors and $7 for adults. At the door tickets are $6 for students and seniors and $8 for adults.
