With such events as the Conyers Fall Fest, Cherry Blossom Festival and other outdoor gatherings around the Rockdale area, there are always plenty of ways to find things such as arts and crafts to better your mind.

Now LaVie Spa and Salon is putting together an event to better your body.

The Conyers spa is offering the first of what they hope becomes a annual Spa and Wellness Expo. The Expo will be Saturday, Aug. 27, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.

"We're really wanting to show the community, not just Rockdale, but what the surrounding communities have to offer in the way of health and wellness," said Katherine Anderson of LaVie. "There are big events out there, but it's more crafts and art driven."

The Expo will feature many exhibits and booths, along with keynote speakers, flu shots and mobile mammography, presented by St. Joseph's. The event is free, with the exception of the mammography at a cost of $135. The test can be scheduled online at www.stjosephsatlanta.org.

"On the main stage we'll have five keynote speakers dealing with stress management, Botox and that kind of stuff," Anderson said. "We'll also have a Zumba instructor coming and lots of different things."

The expo will start with an introduction by Fred Johns on the main stage at 11 a.m., followed by a speech on Tools for Healing by Regina Roland at 11:30 a.m.

There will then be an expo on acupuncture by Dr. Momma, followed by Techniques in Stress Reduction, a presentation by Serendipity Med Spa and Weight Loss and Zumba, all on the main stage.

Inside LaVie there will be an expo on Hair Volume Builder, Summer Hair Recovery, and other hair-type discussions.
