Smyrna Pres. campmeet June 25-July 1

As their predecessors did before them 170-odd years ago, Smyrna Presbyterian Campmeeting attendees of all ages will receive daily inspiration from a dynamic slate of speakers and musicians, as well as good food and fellowship.

Campmeeting 2010 runs from June 25 to July 1. Preaching the opening weekend evening services and Sunday morning is Larry Owens, director of development for Thornwell Home for Children. Owens was the former president of Hospitality International Inc. who moonlighted as a "tent-maker" pastor giving him "a unique perspective on living the faith in a consumer-driven culture."

On the slate for June 25-July 1 evening services is local Dr. Jeff Meyers of First Baptist Church in Conyers. Besides tending his large flock, Meyers can be heard Friday evenings on New Life FM. His greatest passion is "presenting the word of God in a relevant fashion so that others will thrive in Jesus Christ."

In addition to Campmeeting’s nightly 7 p.m. services, the Rev. Tony Elder, long-time pastor of Rockdale Evangelical Methodist church, will lead a daily Bible study at 11 a.m. There will also be morning and evening studies for children of all ages and a nursery for children 4 and under. Conyers First UMC’s Youth Minister Andrew Covington will head up Bible study for middle and high school students.

An eclectic musical line-up of guest choirs ranging from praise bands to southern gospel quartets to trios and orchestras will be featured nightly.

Afternoon activities include swimming, softball, tennis, fishing and basketball. There are also nightly after worship activities such as talent shows and candlelight campground walks. Lunch and dinner are available on site for a small fee.

Smyrna Presbyterian Campground is located at 2920 Ga. Highway 212 in Conyers. For more information, contact (770) 483-8962 or www.smyrnapc.com.
