A small house fire broke out shortly before noon Monday at a McCalla Road residence near Peek's Chapel Elementary School.

About six engines and fire units responded to the fire and were at the scene for about two hours, according to Rockdale County Fire Division spokesperson Deputy Fire Chief Mike Lee. One bedroom was damanged, and there was some fire extension into the attic space, but no other damage, said Lee.

The cause of the fire was undetermined.
