Firefighters responded to a minor fire that broke out at the McDonald's on the corner of Ga. Highway 138 and Flat Shoals Road around 10:25 a.m. Wednesday.

The fire was contained to the ventilation system above the fryers and quickly put out. There were no reported injures to customers, employees, or firefighters, said Rockdale County Fire and Rescue Deputy Chief Dan Morgan.

"As fires go, it was uneventful," said Morgan. "It was totally contained to their enclosed chimney."

A ladder truck was used to place firefighters on the roof who put out the fire in the chimney with extinguishers.

"They put it out with the judicious use of a little bit of water and a couple of extinguishers," said Morgan. He estimated the McDonald's would be closed for at least part of the day as clean up occured.
