Shelter animals now up for adoption sooner, after 3 days

Rockdale County families now won’t have to wait as long to adopt that doggy in the window. The Board of Commissioners recently passed regulations reducing the length of time the shelter had to wait before allowing an animal to be adopted from seven days to 72 business hours.

"It will raise our adoption rate," explained CiJi Baker, director of the Animal Care and Control division, at the July 15 BOC meeting. That would help alleviate the kennel capacity, which is limited. He stressed this did not mean the animals would be euthanized at a faster rate. - M.K.
