Rockdale Cares took it back to the 1950s and 60s for their annual fundraising gala on Saturday, Aug. 13 at the Our Place facility, with appearances from "Elvis" (Ben Mance), "Willie Nelson" (David Cooper) and "Waylan Jennings" (Andy Smith) as well as the Our Place Singers and Swingers and vocal talent and Rockdale Cares client Beth Wright. The event raised more than $35,000 for the Haven House respite home for those with developmental disabilities and Rockdale Cares. Out of that amount, $23,000 came from sponsorships — the most ever raised from sponsors.
