Senior Center to host annual Senior Idol

The sixth annual Senior Idol Talent Show will be held on February 11 at the Olivia Haydel Senior Center. This event is free of admission and open to the public. The competition is for senior center members and there will be four categories in the competition: dance, drama, music, and comedy.  The winners of the competition are supported by the Senior Site Council and go on to perform at the state talent show called the Georgia Recreational and Parks Association (GRPA) Senior Talent Showcase.  The Showcase is held in a different county each year. Rockdale County Senior Services has previously hosted the Showcase back in 2008.   The grand champion of the Senior Idol Talent Show is the act that is judged to be the best overall.  Previous grand champions for the Senior Idol Talent Show were:2005 – Connie Potts - Hula Hoopin’ Mama2006 – HC Dancy and OC Smith - Two Legends and a Yamaha2007 – Rockdale Puppeteers -The Three Little Fairies2008 – Rockdale Puppeteers - Bear and Three Golden Girls2009 – Rockdale Puppeteers - Rumplestiltskin   This grassroots arts program is supported in part by the Georgia Council for the Arts through an appropriation of the Georgia General Assembly and Administered by Arts Clayton.  GCA is a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts.
