Calling all scarecrows: The deadline for the scarecrow building contest at the Olde Town Fall Festival has been extended to Thursday, Oct. 18.

The Olde Town Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 20, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. will have arts and crafts, entertainment and contests throughout the day.

A main attraction and creative display that has been growing each year is the “Make your Own Scarecrow” competition.

The proceeds from this event will benefit the Citizens Academy Alumni Association and the Conyers Police Explorers. The entry fee is only $25 per entry, and there will be cash prizes for the winners.

The deadline to enter the contest has been extended to Thursday, October 18.

Also at the festival will be a costume contests for your kids and your furry kids. The Children's Costume Contest will begin at 11:45 a.m. at the performing stage next to the Welcome Center/Depot.

The Dog Costume Contest will begin at noon.

The prize will be two tickets to the Georgia Aquarium.

The Conyers Police Department and Rockdale County Fire Department and Sheriff’s Department will be on hand for fun safety activities and interaction with children and adults, alike. More than 90 vendors selling wares such as jewelry, baked goods, artwork, food, handmade crafts, woodworking and floral arrangements will be on hand. A children's area will also feature activities and games.

Entertainment scheduled to make appearances include the Dominy School of the Performing Arts, choruses from Barksdale and C.J. Hicks Elementary Schools, the Barksdale Boys and Girls Club Dancers, the Flow Motion Band and even an appearance by Elvis.
