Salem soccer stars play with best in the U.S.

Salem stars Jordan Young, Brittany Beaumont and Taylor Gates sport their medals after winning the U.S. Youth Soccer Region 3 championship with the Phoenix Red.

They say that three can equal either company or a crowd.

For three Salem soccer standouts, the number is also the recipe for success on the pitch.

That’s because recent Salem graduates Jordan Young and Brittany Beaumont, alongside current senior Taylor Gates, have turned their cameraderie into on-field results.

The trio, which helped Salem to its fourth-straight Region 8 AAAA title this Spring, have recently made their names known for the Gwinnett Soccer Association’s Phoenix Red, an Under-17 club team that recently won its state and region championships in June.

The winning run with the Phoenix Red earned the squad a trip to the U.S. Youth National Soccer Championship, which ran from July 22-26 in Boston. The squad finished fourth nationally after tying all three of their group games at the competition, including breaking even with last year’s national champion Dallas Texan team and this year’s winner, PDA Fire.

The girls are actually on to even bigger and better things, amazingly.

While Gates will be the star of one of the top prep soccer teams in the state this year for Salem, Young and Beaumont have their futures set for on the next level. Young has committed to play for Georgia, while Beaumont is moving on to Clemson. Both were highly recruited coming out out high school.

If what the trio has proved at the amateur level is any indication, the best is still yet to come.
