Twenty-five local high school seniors received awards for their academic success and enthusiasm during a ceremony hosted by the Rotary Club of Conyers Thursday.
Nominated by their teachers and school counselors, the seniors represented outstanding achievement among 13 academic areas at Heritage High School, Rockdale High School and Salem High School.
"A student that tries hard is a student that is willing to succeed," Rotarian Diane Daniels-Adoma said at the ceremony before presenting each student with a plaque. Each recipient spoke briefly about their post-secondary education plans and thanked the people who have supported them thus far.
Selected from Heritage High School were: Megan Searles (English), Elizabeth Potter (Science), Devansh Acharya (Math), Amber Garnett (Social Studies), Nathan Freeman (Foreign Language), Elizabeth Griffin (Art), Demario Durham (Music), Hannah Caruso (Performing Arts), Justin Hardeman (Vocational Education), McKenzie Beech (Physical Education) and Salina Overton (ROTC).

Salem High School seniors recognized were: Amanda Clair (English), Kendra Jenkins (Science), Christopher York (Math), Candice Biamby (Social Studies), Dominique Parker (Foreign Language), Michael Davis (Art), Elijah Adams (Music), Avery Reagan (Performing Arts), Kai Uchimura (Vocational Education), Lorenzo Jackson (Physical Education) and Sabriyya Willis (ROTC).
