Rockdale finished third in the six-team Region 2-AAAAAA boys' golf tournament held at the Oaks Golf Course in Covington Tuesday with a score of 384.
The Bulldogs were behind Luella with 347 and first-place Alcovy, which shot a total of 325 on its home course.
Brandon Lee was Rockdale's low-scorer with 90, followed by Ahmad Williams with 96 and Camaron Rivers with 98. Griffin Miller was next with 100, six better than Carlos Ivey and in front of Bulldogs' teammate Malike Moville's 131.
The Tigers qualified for the state tournament May 20 event in Tifton.
All six of Alcovy's golfers finished under 88, with Zachary Floyd tying for the boys' low medalist. Floyd shot a 72, along with Luella's Devon White to lead the pack.
"I'm real pleased with the guys," Alcovy coach Chris Newsham said. "We go to state and we'll see how we do there."
Druid Hills shot a team total of 389, Lovejoy 424 and Newton rounding out the boys' field 450.
The Rockdale girls' team didn't attend the tournament, which had three participating girls' teams.
Alcovy won the Region 2-AAAAAA title, shooting four strokes better than Luella with a winning score of 303. Alcovy's Kelsey Knight was low medalist with a score of 94 to help propel the Lady Tigers to sectionals.
"My drives and irons were good, but I lost a bunch of my strokes in putting," Knight said.
They were three shots short of making it to state, so the Lady Tigers will have to compete in the sectional tournament at the Country Club of Roswell May 20.
"They can definitely go there and qualify for state if they play well," Newsham said.
The Lady Tigers will need continued improvement from all their golfers, as Emily Moore shot 102, followed by Kaitlyn Doering and Sharlie Harrell each with 107.
