Rockdale residents should take heed - Rockdale County Fire-Rescue will conduct live fire training on Thurs., Dec. 11 at 958 Bethel Road, Conyers, 30012.

Citizens may see a number of fire department apparatuses in neighborhoods across the County during the training evolutions. Due to the smoke generated by the burning houses, Fire-Rescue requests citizens to keep doors and windows closed during the training between the hours of 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. on Dec. 11. Fire-Rescue staff appreciates the cooperation of citizens during this essential training.

The live fire evolutions are designed to train firefighters on new equipment and provide refresher training on firefighting techniques. As part of the ongoing training, Fire-Rescue routinely burns vacant houses to simulate true working conditions.

The training will be conducted within the rules and regulations of the Clean Air Act and is approved by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources - Environmental Protection Division.

For questions about the training, please contact Cpt. Adam Roberts at 770-278-8401 or adam.roberts@rockdalecounty.org.
