Rockdale falls to Tucker

After recent success for the Rockdale County High School Basketball program, the alpha-dog state powerhouse Tucker Tigers came charging into Conyers, Ga, to take on the Bulldogs. Tucker made it their house Friday night, as the Lady Tigers and Tigers dominated both games against Rockdale.

Starting with the ladies first, it started off bad from the opening tip for the Lady Bulldogs. Rockdale started off the first quarter trailing, after Tucker opened the game on an 11-0 run. Tucker's defense stifled the Lady Bulldogs early and often. They forced turnovers and got out in transition to earn easy buckets. Rockdale managed to only score seven points in the entire first half trailing 35-7 going into the third quarter. Tucker went with their reserves in the majority of the second half and cruised to a 57-21 win.

It seemed like Rockdale's boys basketball team came out with a lot of energy, but they just weren't executing and shots just weren't falling. Tucker got out to an early lead just like in the girls' game, leading by as much as 18 in the first half. Rockdale did start to execute on offense towards the end of the first half, but they stilled trailed 34-18 at half. Tucker made their big run in the start of the second half and sealed the game with a 16-1 run. Avindie Russell (19 points) and Bryce Brown (15 points) took over the game and finished off the Bulldogs.

Rockdale has to bounce back quickly as they have to travel to county rival Salem Seminoles tomorrow evening.
