Rockdale County Director of Public Affairs Julie Mills' resignation was officially submitted at Tuesday's Board of Commissioners meeting.
Mills' last day was Friday, according to Deputy Director of Public Affairs Holly LaFontaine. The Board approved a severance package of 15 weeks for Mills, who had an annual salary of $76,766.
Chief of Staff RJ Hadley said that Chairman Richard Oden had wanted to "go in another direction."
Oden said, in a released statement, "We appreciate Ms. Mills' time of service to Rockdale County. We wish her well in her future endeavors."
"As the Board and I take further steps to streamline services and departmental functions, we plan to make additional organizational changes in the near future," the Chairman added.
The county is not looking for a new director to fill the position, according to a statement. Holly Lafontaine, deputy director of the Department of Public Affairs and Media Relations, will oversee the department with Chief of Staff RJ Hadley providing additional support.
