A Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) deputy was involved in a non-fatal car collision Friday afternoon.

According to the RCSO spokesperson Cpl. Michael Camp, while the deputy was driving northbound on Salem Road, a truck made a left turn attempting to get onto the eastbound ramp of I-20. The deputy then “T-boned” the truck on its passenger side causing it to flipped over once.

The deputy and the driver of the truck were “OK” following the collision, according to Camp, but both were transported to the Rockdale Medical Center, 1412 Milstead Ave., Conyers. No other vehicles or people were involved in the accident.

“The deputy wasn’t chasing anyone. He wasn’t responding to a call. It was just a typical accident,” said Camp.

Georgia State Patrol (GSP) is currently handling the investigation of the incident, which is customary when a deputy is involved in a car accident.

The accident occurred around 1 p.m. and it took about 30 minutes to clear the scene.
